I'm from Shinjo city. I conduct research on IoT (Internet of Things) in this laboratory.
Due to sensor miniaturization, low cost, low power consumption, and communication technology, IoT has begun to spread recently.
So, depending on the idea, I think there are many business opportunities in this domain. I hope to develop something interesting in the coming days.

I’m from Obanazawa City. I belong to the tennis club at National Institute of Technology, Tsuruoka College. I conducted research on “genetic programming” last year. From this year, I am pursuing research on “IoT(internet of things)”. Currently, IoT is one of the most promising themes. Hence, I look forward to work on exciting stuffs.

Research

  • Some of our previous and/or ongoing proposals for congestion control mechanisms and protocol are as follows :
    • TCP I&RW
    • TCP IACK
    • TCP Seamless
    • TCP Cherry [improves throughput by up to 150%]
    • WFCC (Wireless Friendly Congestion Control) [improves throughput by up to 250%]
    • Utilization based congestion control (UCC) [improves performance by up to 150%]
    • Fair In-time Marking (FIM)
    • Fair In-time Dropping (FID)
  • Disaster resilient network (Never Die Network).
  • EMAC(Exhaustive Medium Access Control).
  • We have been devising new protocols and mechanisms to yield improved network performance in different environments like wireless or satellite links. Our proposed mechanisms have the following characteristics.
    • minimize waste of resource
    • easy to implement (free from complex parameters)
    • not affect existing protocols and mechanisms adversely
    • Fig.: Our proposed TCP Cherry leads to up to 150% higher throughput than existing schemes over satellite links.

Fig.: Our proposed TCP Cherry leads to up to 150% higher throughput than existing schemes over satellite links.

  • We are now working toward the realization of disaster resilient "Never Die Network" framework proposed by professor Norio Shiratori of Tohoku University.
  • Many seniors have started using tablets or smartphones.
  • However, since they are not familiar with these technologies, they face different issues.
  • An assistant may support them from remote location using this technology.
  • Use of keyboard is not easy for seniors.
  • Seniors would prefer more natural interfaces like handwriting or voice for communicating with ICT terminals.
  • If the calendar is shared with family members, they can remind of things to do as well as learn about the daily life of the senior person.
  • We have been working on different topics of e-health and wellness. For example,
    • We have worked on data acquisition from different health devices. We tried different communication technologies like Bluetooth, NFC/Felica, ZigBee etc. We also worked on interoperability of the collected health data.
    • We worked on an emergency notification system for seniors living alone. In case the senior person has fallen down, our prototype system would detect it using a camera mounted on the robot.
    • We are currently conducting investigations on topics related to genome database and health/medical big data.
    • We are in the process of launching a trial on wearable devices for players/athletes.
  • With aging, seniors become increasingly incapable of managing regular stuffs. We are conducting research with a view to assisting seniors in such situations using IOT.
